Conservation works in Lidzbark cellars
As part of the conservation and renovation works, secondary layers of plaster on the vaults and basement walls are removed. Our cellars (south and east wings) were originally painted in red, based on a dye called coral crapple obtained from the mandrake root. These visible "dots" are later actions, before laying a new layer.

Activities carried out as part of the project "Conservation and restoration of the fourteenth-century castle in Lidzbark Warmiński – pearls of Gothic architecture in Poland – III stage" implemented from the funds of: Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway under the EEA funds, state budget and funds of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Funds of the Self-Government of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. Together, we work for a green, competitive and inclusive Europe.
