Yesterday, 4 February, a new chapter in the history of the Lidzbark Castle began. Piotr Żuchowski, director of the Museum of Warmia and Mazury, has signed an agreement thanks to which we will implement the project: "Conservation and restoration of the fourteenth-century castle in Lidzbark Warmiński – pearls of Gothic architecture in Poland – stage III". The day after the anniversary of the birth of Ignacy Krasicki, probably known to all Poles as a resident of the Lidzbark castle, we opened a new chapter of this magnificent monument.
The Museum of Warmia and Mazury received funding in the amount of PLN 12,241,767.88 for a project worth PLN 17,488,886.43 of the application submitted as part of the call for projects for Measure 1. Improving the management of cultural heritage of the Culture Programme financed from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area and the state budget. With this money, gardens will be built around the castle, we will prepare new exhibitions, create new educational workshops, a computer game and improve part of the technical infrastructure of the museum in our Lidzbark branch. This is the third time that money from the so-called Norwegian funds will go to the Lidzbark castle and the third time it is Piotr Żuchowski who signs the relevant documents, previously as Deputy Marshal of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and as Deputy Minister of Culture.
From today, the project slogan Together we work for a green, competitive and inclusive Europe will accompany us at every step in the Lidzbark castle.
