On April 13 this year, the ceremonial opening of the bridge in the Warmia Museum in Lidzbark Warmiński took place.
Its appearance refers to the bridge, which as part of the first great conservation and renovation works was carried out in the 20s of the twentieth century. At that time, the causeway built in its place in the nineteenth century was liquidated, medieval pillars with granite corbels and traces of the original wooden structure were discovered. The bridge was built in 1930, after the war it was renovated in the 70s of the twentieth century, then a steel supporting structure and a new wooden balustrade were introduced.
Now we have returned to the original shape of the bridge, on four Gothic brick pillars, with granite corbels, a wooden structure of pine logs, the upper deck of larch.
The bridge was built as part of the project "Conservation and restoration of the fourteenth-century castle in Lidzbark Warmiński – pearls of Gothic architecture in Poland – stage III", implemented from funds received from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway under EEA funds and the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
Co-financed by the Self-Government of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.
Together, we work towards a green, competitive and inclusive Europe.
